I think this will be a great fight! If 'Baby' Joe doesn't get Jirov out of there in 4 or 5 rounds... he could be in some trouble.

This would be a spectacular action-packed matchup. Far away though.

i was shocked and amazed when i saw this one.....and tickled sh-tless......

so much more intriguing than mesi/moorer....

k.o. hit the nail on the head.....if jirov can hang for 4 or 5,mesi might have a problem...jirov brings it for 10.....hellacious body puncher....and actually slightly taller.....and i wasn`t thrilled with what i saw late in the barrett fight....if barrett had a little more in the tank, mesi may have been in trouble in that one...

but, can jirov take a legit heavyweight`s shots?......that`s the $64,000 question....and make no mistake, mesi can punch....that`s one thing we know...jirov will be right there...

i give jirov much credit....in a time when many are ducking big opportunities and playing it safe,he`s taking a big chance....no tune ups....no soft touches....no sticking his toes in the water...

if he wins,it`s akin to hitting the lotto.....if he loses,it`s back down to cruiser....he`s only 29(chronologically)....maybe a little older in boxing years...when you look at it like that, maybe it`s a reasonable gamble....

a lefty...tough and durable as a cruiser....a workhorse....and it`s not in buffalo(vegas)....

mesi`s people must know something...they haven`t taken many chances up to this point.........i`ve seen jirov hurt....letterlough comes to mind..maybe jorge castro.....and he`s certainly not quick....clever...awkward....not quick...

although jirov makes for an interesting match-up,as i said, mesi`s people are smart....like a fox....

this one`s interesting....

A very interesting fight. Plus, what is Jirov's punches going to be like at heavyweight? I'd love - i mean LOVE to see Jirov beat Mesi. He's all talk... all money! If he couldn't punch, he'd be dead meat. Mesi and his father picked him becuase he's very easy to hit. But - what if he looks hurt, Mesi goes all out to Ko the guy, and Jirov takes it like he did against Toney. Now what... Mesi is out of gas... Jirov starts to come on... (a wet dream i had last night) lol.

Jirov is an animal, and i am sure he can take a shot. Toney can punch, just ask Holyfield. I really like Jirov, but not here. Im just afraid that Jirov will be a sitting duck for some big time shots from Mesi, and i feel it may end in under 6. Jirov took some big shots in his last fight on Fox sports a few months ago. He will have to really land alot to the body and rely on his toughness to stay in it. Longer it goes the better for Jirov.

Kind of seems we are all on the same page here
for the most part. Jirov-Toney showed us how
tough Jirov is; no quit in the man. As spinch
said, Mesi's crew very carefully plans each
opponent they will take on. I saw Barrett two
years ago at the Hard Rock and he was the biggest slouch I'd ever seen. He has improved
markedly, which explains his decent outing vs
baby Joe. Mesi is a hard trainer and comes in shape. He isn't cut up so he may not give the
impression he is in shape, but I feel he is and
he is improving and can hit. I like Joe here.
Haven't seen a number, but I think Joe will be a
mininum 3-1 chalk.

If Mesi opens up at 3-1 which I also think is possible I will have to make a value play on Jirov. I heard Jirov looked bad in his last fight after Toney against some nobody but he also looked bad in his last fight before Toney against Castro.

Jirov is an interesting fighter in a sense that he has the opposite problem that alot of fighters have. Alot of fighters go for the knockout and throw the knockout punch without setting it up properly. Jirov does the opposite. He sets up the knockout punch but never throws it. I think that is the reason he lost to Toney. He was hitting Toney all over with jabs, short punches, and shots to the body but NEVER unleashed a knockout punch to the body or to the head. I think Toney became comfortable fighting him after the 8th round or so and felt that there was no risk of Jirov hurting him. Jirov needs to unleash some power punches to be a complete fighter.

Having said that, if I HAD to bet on this fight even up I would go with Jirov. He is the more skilled fighter and showed alot against Toney. Mesi is mostly hype. He proved that in his last fight with Barrett. I dont have a great feeling about this fight by any means but if Jirov is around +250 or so I might have to take him.
